Houston, Texas – November 22, 2022—Symphony North of Houston announced guest soloist, Yilong Wang,
Symphony North of Houston is delighted to introduce our guest soloist for the second concert of the 2022-2023 season of our 47th season. Yilong Wang will perform Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with Symphony North on Sunday, December 4, 2022, at 4:00 PM. Our concert venue is Salem Lutheran Church in Tomball, Texas. Admission to our concerts is by donation. At the performance, we will be accepting donations by cash and check, but you may also donate online.
Yilong Wang started his formal piano studies in second grade at Shenyang Conservatory of Music in China and concurrently studied at the Liu Ning Piano School with Vladimir Petruccioru, a former professor at Odesa Academy of Music in Ukraine. Later, Yilong moved to Beijing and began his study with Professor Jin Zhang who was the keyboard discipline chair of the Central Conservatory of Music. In 2019, Yilong moved to Houston, US, and started his college-level piano study with Professor Timothy Hester who is the chair of the keyboard division at the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music.
During these years of music study, Yilong has also played in masterclass settings for several other great pianists including Vadym Kholodenko, Susan Starr, Tamas Ungar, Victoria Mushkatkol, Marc Silverman, Alvin Chow, Ernest Barretta, Boaz Sharon, among others.
As a musician who enjoys performing, Yilong has enjoyed a vibrant performing life during these years, including several solo recitals, chamber recitals, charity recitals, and a UH orchestra concert. Yilong’s well-rounded repertoire includes works ranging from the Baroque period to the post-tonal era. He has also traveled abroad to perform in music festivals in Europe and the United States to share his talents with other aspiring musicians.
