Aditya Deshpande

Aditya Deshpande, 17, is an Honor Roll student in his senior year at the Village School, Houston. He started learning the piano at age seven, and currently studies with John Weems.

Most recently Aditya placed 1st at the Symphony North of Houston and Texas Music Teachers Association (TMTA) Piano Concerto competitions, and in 2016 he won 2nd place at the TMTA Piano Solo Competition and was a finalist at the Seattle International Piano Competition. He has previously won prizes at the International Keyboard Odyssiad, Baylor University, Texas State University and Blinn College competitions, and has performed at the International Piano Competition in Ettlingen, Germany. Aditya has been a pianist for Houston Young Artists’ Concert (HYAC) since 2015, playing outreach concerts at Miller Outdoor Theater and senior communities across Houston. In 2011 he won first place at the MusiQuest national level piano competition in India, and performed at the National Center for the Performing Arts, Mumbai.

Aditya is Founder/President of the Classical Music and Creative Tech clubs at his school, both now in their second year. He is also the leader of the school’s MIT Challenge Team, working on a system of flood sensors with Houston city officials and community support. Aditya enjoys playing soccer and basketball with his friends, and plans to study computer science and music in college.
