Nickolas Warwick

Violinist Nickolas Warwick (age 13) is honored to return to the stage with Symphony North of Houston. A native Houstonian, Nickolas is a typical homeschooled eighth grader with interests ranging from military history to architecture; however, he is most passionate about his music.

Starting with a box violin at the age of three, Nickolas progressed quickly, winning his first area wide competition by age six. He has twice been selected as Colorado Suzuki Institutes’ (CSI) Solo Honor Recitalist, performing Vivaldi (age 7), and Concerto No.1, Allegro moderato by J. S. Bach (age 9). At age ten, Nickolas made his first symphony solo debut with Symphony North of Houston, playing Violin Concerto No. 2 in D Major by Mozart.

Since that time, Nickolas has had the honor of performing in recitals at Meadowmount School of Music and Killington Music Festival. This past year Nickolas was selected as both Houston Civic Symphony’s 2018 Young Artist Competition Junior Division winner and Fort Bend Symphony Orchestra’s 2018 Marielle Olgetree Young Artist, for his performance of the first and third movements of Mozart’s Violin Concerto in D major, No. 4.

Finding enjoyment in performing with others, Nickolas has participated in various chamber ensembles with CSI, KMF, and Meadowmount. Currently, Nickolas is a member of the Houston Youth Symphony (HYS), performing as Violin I section member for both HYS’s chamber and Symphony programs.

Nickolas’ modern-day violin influences are Joshua Bell, James Ehnes, Julia Fisher, and David Garrett. Like other thirteen-year-olds, Nickolas’ favorite pastimes include biking, running with his Redbone Coonhound “Prada”, and playing video games with his friends. Nickolas also gives back to his community by performing for senior groups, care centers, and participating in local benefit concerts.

Nickolas is very thankful for his current teachers, Paul Kantor and Natalie Lin. Finally, Nickolas is grateful for the loving support of his friends and family.
