Houston, Texas – September 17, 2025—Symphony North of Houston announced the publication of the official rules and online application process for the 2025 – 2026 Young Artist Concerto Competition.
Symphony North of Houston is pleased to announce the publication of the official rules and online application process for its 27th annual Young Artist Concerto Competition for 2025-2026. Winners of the competition will perform their selection with Symphony North on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at 4:00 PM at Salem Lutheran Church in Tomball, Texas. Admission to concerts is by donation at the performance or online.
Scholarship Awards to Winners
Symphony North awards scholarships to the category and overall winners. A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to the Overall Winner, and a $500 scholarship will be awarded to each of the category winners.
Official Rules & Application Information
The competition is open to primary or secondary education students who are 19 years old or younger during the 2025-2026 school year and are in the Greater Houston area. Applications are to be submitted online at the Young Artist Competition login page (https://yac.symphonynorth.org/). The Official Rules can be downloaded by clicking here.
While preapproval of the selection is not required, it is recommended that the concerto movement be no longer than fifteen minutes. Submissions of a movement longer than fifteen minutes may be subject to being returned.
Important Dates
- January 17, 2026: (Midnight Central) Deadline for submitting the online application and $40 entry fee
- February 21, 2026: Finalists Audition
- May 4, 2026: First Rehearsal with Symphony North
- May 17, 2026: Young Artist Concert
The deadline for completing the online application and $40 entry fee must be submitted by Saturday, January 17, 2026, midnight CST.

From the applications submitted, finalist will be selected to audition before a judge’s panel on Saturday, February 21, 2026, which will determine the Category Winners. Those selected as category winners will perform with Symphony North as featured soloists at the Late Spring Concert on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Salem Lutheran Church. A panel of judges at the concert will then determine the Overall Winner from the performance of each category winner. The announcement of the Overall Winer and special awards presentation to all winners will be at the conclusion of the May18th concert.
