Nikita “Niki” Patel is a junior at the Woodlands High School. She has been studying the flute for eight years under Rosane O’Conor and Sandra Benke. Involved in music since kindergarten, she now has her own studio teaching beginner flutists.
She has been the winner of the Denise Jennings Competition at the Houston Flute Festival for seven years. She is also an eight year TMTA music theory gold medalist. She has made the Region 9 Band since 2007 and is a two time Texas All State Musician.
Niki plays in the Woodlands High School Wind Ensemble and the Houston Youth Symphony. At the age of 13, she made her musical debut as a soloist with the Clear Lake Symphony and was an invited guest artist for the Conroe Symphony Orchestra this past spring.
In the future, Niki aspires to study music and architecture in college as she follows through with her passion for the arts.
